Tamimah Consultancy Group (TCG) was founded in 1984 by a number of highly qualified and experienced Omanis in association with international firms to provide consultancy services based on their expertise and experience in the Omani environment. The company services specifically incorporated Omani participation in the preparation and evaluation of studies to overcome the problems experienced by some international firms in implementing projects in a region where they lacked sufficient knowledge of the Omani socio-economic structure to successfully realize project objectives and goals.

TCG was the first established national economics and management consultancy company specializing in economic, market and financial analysis for techno-economic feasibility studies in the Sultanate of Oman.

TCG quickly earned wide recognition for pioneering local economic feasibility studies. Today, TCG continues to be viewed as one of Oman’s leading firms at the forefront of economic market research and management services. As an Omani company, TCG is not only aware of alternative solutions in any given problem situation, but, more importantly, is very often in an educated position to operate effectively and efficiently.

Mr. Mohamed Abdullah Hamed Al Harthy B.Sc. (U.S.A.), M.A. (U.S.A.) heads the Tamimah Consultancy Group as Managing Director and proprietor. He is an Economics Expert with the government where he has worked since 1981. Mr. Al Harthy has been a member of numerous Government Committees and has participated in many Seminars and Conferences. He has a wide ranging experience as an economist and management consultant and has held the following posts with local companies:

  • Member of the Executive Committee of Oman Cement Co. (1986 - 1991)

  • Member of the Board of Directors of Oman Cement Co. (1984 - 1991)

  • Chairman of the Merger Committee for Bank Ahli Al Omani for the merger with Bank Muscat

  • Ex-Chairman of the Management Committee of Bank Ahli Al Omani

In addition, Mr. Al Harthy is the Chairman of Polyglot Institute Oman llc, Rusayl Institute llc, Petroleum and Gas Technology llc. Sahara Petroleum llc, Hofincons & Co. llc ,Tamimah Telecom & Computer Technology and Rusyal chemicals as well as a Director of Modern Oman bakery and Oman Marketing Centre.

He is also associated with, Polish Oil and Gas Company, Intervest Independent Investment Consultants, Cytek Projects (Middle East), and the legal firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP.

Mr. Al Harthy is a Member of the Founder Committee and a Member of the Executive Committee of of the Arab Organization for Translation which is based in Beirut - Lebanon

He is also a Member of the Founder Committee and the president of the Omani Economic Association.

For his service to the country, Mr. Al Harthy was awarded the Merit Order of Civil Service of Grade I by H.M. Sultan Qaboos in 1991.
 

Objectives

The broad objectives motivating TCG may be stated as follows:

a)       To achieve the highest standard of services in the fields of economics and management in respect of quality of work, prompt completion of work, consideration of the clients' interests and professional ethics.

b)       To guarantee the realism of our services, their relevance to the framework of our national institutions and the socio-­economic structure of Oman and to account for the disparities between regions and  the presence of foreign firms and manpower in Oman as well as other related factors.

International Associations

Tamimah Consultancy Group maintains close associations with a number of international consultants.  These international associations operate in two ways.  They enable TCG to provide a service in Oman and other parts of the world for TCGs own clients as well as  for clients of the  international associates of Tamimah Consultancy Group.  They also allow TCG the opportunity to provide a full scale international service for our clients in any part of the world.  In addition we have full access to the specialized support services of the international associates.

Our Services

1.    Economic Consulting:

Tamimah Consultancy Group prepares techno-economic feasibility studies and market surveys for government and private sector clients.  It also assists in completing a wide variety of required government forms, including the industrial licence application forms.

2.    Economic Analysis:

TCG is equipped to analyze the complete range of economic matters at the macro and micro level, from national planning and policy making to individual product and cost benefit analysis.

3.    Business Advice and Existing Projects:

4.    Privatization Studies

The Government of the Sultanate of Oman=s committed policy regarding the privatization of public services means that there are presently, or will be, many opportunities for the private sector to invest in the electricity and water sector, hotel services, health services, education, port and airport services.  Foreign investors will have favorable opportunities to invest in accordance with new government investment strategies. A detailed knowledge of local financial, tax and commercial conditions appertaining to these industries is essential for any foreign investor considering an investment in a sector.

Specific studies can be prepared by TCG which will outline the benefits and risks for the investor. More general studies could also be prepared to present, for instance, the history of the sector, government policies for the sector, known problems preventing privatization, past histories of previous privatizations or government run S.A.O.G.'s (companies), organizations or authorities which may be relevant.

5.    Human Resource Development:

All companies in the Sultanate of Oman are obliged to submit an Omanisation plan to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour and are required to meet their prospective Omanisation percentage targets by the end of 1996 or face significant penalties. TCG has the expertise in manpower development to assist companies with their Omanisation plans through:

--       The preparation of a Human Resources Development Plan (Omanisation Plan) inclusive of all requirements for Omani manpower in accordance with the percentages decided by the Government for the various types of companies and to include:

(a) Preparation of a schedule for Omanising manpower in accordance with the set percentages.

(b) Preparation of a training programme inclusive of the training period and suitable courses for the selected manpower jobs intended to be Omanised.

-       Supervising the selection of suitable candidates for each identified position in line with the Omanisation plan for the company by developing candidate profiles to establish the candidate's talent and suitability for a career placement and training based on a series of aptitude tests and interviews.

-       Supervising and monitoring trainee performance through the planned training programme and submission of quarterly reports to the company to ensure the success of the plan.

6.    Project Development:

Tamimah Consultancy Group is equipped to provide services relevant to the specific requirements  of each project and client.  The company=s capabilities apply to all phases of the project cycle, identification, feasibility and implementation. 7.    Agriculture Management Consultancy:
